Greetings ladies and gents and welcome to the skeeson debut of Jman’s “Picks to Click.”  For the new rollers out there who don’t know what this is, it’s my take on the teams and the players in our league. If you don’t already know, my birth name is Jonathan, and I am the SKEE-EO’s right hand man. The thoughts I have are my attempt to an honest reflection of the league (i.e. they don’t reflect the views of the SKEE-EO, L-Skeezy, the interns, the sponsors, etc.)  For this first post, I am offering my insight on upcoming matches from each night this week (ones that I find intriguing for different reasons). Also, I will give a player to watch from each team and my prediction.

Tuesday

6:00pm (Front Lane)

Skeebaggers (1-2) 2566 pts., 6th place vs. 3 Classkee Bitches (3-0) 2686 pts., 4th place

This match, in particular, features two solid teams. One with veteran ex-skee-rience (Skeebaggers), and the other, 3 Classkee Bitches, a mere 4 weeks into their rookskee season.  Skeebaggers have always been known as being “sneaky” good, an underrated team because they are quiet and tend not to brag about their scores. 3 Classkee Bitches have been the most impressive rookskee team out there to this point out of the league. Don’t let their good looks fool you, these ladies can play, and it has been apparent from the start. They have done it mainly with rollers Carly and Amy as Sheila has been out since Week 2, but  they have continued to hold their own.

Players to watch:  Skeebaggers’ Emily Brightman (B-Right) has always been a good player.  Coming off a high of 366 and 2 combos last week, she is someone who will average around 300, hit a few hundos here or there and great up the middle. 3 Classkee Bitches’ Carly Munder (iCarlskee/new nickname pending…?) is an early Rookskee of the Year contender who has continued to roll around a 300 and hit 35 hundos (4th on Tuesday). Interesting to see how she continues to play as the skeeson goes on.

When it comes down to veterans against rookskees, usually the veterans come out on top. Plus, when will Sheila Hull roll again?

Prediction: Skeebaggers (930), 3 Classkee Bitches (857)

Wednesday

9:00pm (Front Lane)

A.Skee Slater (2-1) 2860 pts. 4th place  vs.  Tenacious SKEE: The Roll of Destiny (0-3) 2643 pts. 5th place

This match-up features two teams with pop culture names.  One from television, A.C. Slater from Saved By The Bell, and one from a movie/TV/Band, with Jack Black from Tenacious D.  Though Wednesday’s Top 3 is firmly established with WhiSKEE Dix, Ay SKEE Wa Wa!, and Kamikaskees, these are the two best teams following. They can be threats down the stretch run and into the playoffs. Three of the six players playing here have won awards including Most Improved Roller and Rookskee of the Year.

Players to Watch:  A.Skee Slater is led by superb roller Katie Nierzwicki (K-tizzle).  In her rookskee season, where she won Most Improved Roller, she averaged 34.25 pts/frame and had 100 hundos. Now, she is the league leader in scoring average (377.67 pts./game) and hundos (55). An early candidate to become the first female MVSKEE. Tenacious SKEE’s Kristin McMurray (Ketchup), one of our few 5 skeeson vets, has always strived to play great. She has improved in the middle game from last skeeson and now starting to get the hundos down.  If she continues the steady path, an award of some kind will be coming.

K-tizzle is the best player in this match-up and I think it will show here.

Prediction: A.Skee Slater (974), Tenacious SKEE (930)

Thursday

7:00pm (Front Lane)

Skeeline Dion’s “My Heart Will Skee On” (1-2) 2599 pts. 13th place  vs.  Skee’s Company (2-1) 2603 pts. 12th place

OK, I know you are wondering to yourself, “Jman, why are you talking about this match?”

  1. This Thursday is “Friend Rivalry Night” and it fits with these 2 teams.

  2. The Thursday standings are so tight that they can both go from being out of the playoffs to in the picture with a good game.

Both of these teams are determined to get into the playoffs, one (Skee’s Company) trying to get in for the 1st time and another (My Heart Will Skee On) trying to get in for the 2nd time.  I know speaking to Tory Vachula (Torskeedo), she thinks her team (My Heart Will Skee On) will win every game they play, and I do like the confidence.

Players to Watch:  Adriane “Riesses Skee-ces” Riesser (My Heart Will Skee On) is having another good season coming from her momentum of last skeeson. In the last 6 matches, she has rolled a 360, 298, 316, 288, 302, and 357 and has hit 79 hundos.  Rosie Peri (Skee’s Company) is more so known for her nickname “Two-Step”.  The reason is she has a unique rolling style where she takes two power steps while rolling the ball from just behind the machine.  It is hard to explain it and something you have to see, but she has rolled her best game last week and so far is posting a 303.67 average.

Rosie’s Theme Song :

It is an even game, but I think after My Heart Will Skee On almost beat SKEENAGE MUTANT last week, so I think that momentum will carry over to this match.

Prediction: My Heart Will Skee On (922), Skee’s Company (890)

That’s all for now. Skee ya this week!
