There’s been lots of movin’ and shakin’ in the off-skeeson, including the launch of 2 new league locatons, so I wanted to get out in front of any questions you may have regarding our host bars and formats.
First, let’s take a look at important dates ahead.

Black Iron Tavern: August 31st – October 7th

KEY DATES:
Return Roller Registration (8/5 thru 8/10): All current/former members of The SKEE League may register at this time. Friends/referrals are also given high priority.
Open Registration (8/10): Leagues sign-ups are open to the public! Anybodskee and everybodskee (over the age of 21) can join. First come, first to roll. No experience necessary. *Subject to availability.
64 BIT (Black Iron Tavern) Bracket Tournament (8/26): To celebrate the SKEE League’s expansion into River West, we are kicking things off with a fun, open-invite, bracket tournament. 32 experienced rollers will face off on one side of the bracket, while 32 newbies duke it out on the other! Winner takes home a discontinued NES Classic (valued at $250+) This is a one day event with no league commitment required, though, it’s FREE to enter when you join the Black Iron League!
Each of our league locations has a unique vibe, culture and format. People get skeeball nicknames and make punny team names. No matter where you choose roll, the SKEE League is one big communitskee! BLACK IRON TAVERN SKEESON I
401 N. Milwaukee – Fulton Market/ River West
League Nights: Thursdays (6:30, 7:30, 8:30, 9:30pm start times) *Weds will be added if demand is met
League Start Date: Thursday August 31st
Machine Type: Skeeball Classic
Team Size: 3 people (Subs allowed- but individual stats included for registered rollers only.)
Duration: 6 weeks
Scoring Type: Head to head. Cumulative Points. Finals: Team Bracket Tourney
Max Teams: 16 per night
Cost: $85/Individual or $250/Team (*$75 Individual or $220/Team with advanced registration discounts)

AT A GLANCE: Very excited to have Black Iron Tavern on board as The Skee League’s newest host bar. If you work or live downtown (near the loop) this location is a dream come true. Very close to the Blue Line for public transport, Black Iron has a clean but edgy rock n’ roll vibe. If you are fan of 90’s alt rock and/or modern hip hop, welcome home! They have a lot of table/board games including Giant Jenga, Giant Connect Four, as well as a Nintendo 64, so there’s always something to keep you entertained. Perhaps the most understated selling point of this location is their food. They make some of the best burgers I’ve ever tasted, and that’s not an exaggeration.
LEAGUE FORMAT: For our inaugural skeeson at Black Iron, we wanted to start things off a simple as possible. 6 week commitment with an affordable buy in. If you participated in our Glascott’s Saloon mini-skeeson (aka Skee Madness) this is EXACTLY the same format. Rules are going to be exactly the same as the Glascott’s location as well – Head to head, total cumulative points for seeding – but this is also going to be our first time rolling on Skeeball Classic machines (as opposed to Beerball.) Basically, everyone joining this location is going to be starting out on the same experience level. New challenges should make for very exciting matches!
*Skee shirts are not included with league fee at this location, but will be available for purchase separately if so desired.

BEGYLE BREWING SKEESON V
1800 W. Cuyler – Northcenter/ Ravenswood
LEAGUE NIGHTS: Tuesdays and Wednesdays (6:15, 7:15, 8:15pm start times)
LEAGUE START DATE: September 5th, 6th
MACHINE TYPE: Beerball
TEAM SIZE: 3-5 people (Minimum of 3 people must show up each week)
DURATION: 7 weeks
SCORING TYPE: Match Play/Teams split rounds of 9 balls. Individual Scoring Challenges.
MAX TEAMS: 16 per night
COST: $72-$120/Individual or $360/Team (*62-$110/ Individual and $330/Team with advanced registration discounts)
WHAT’S INCLUDED? All rounds of skeeball, trophskees, prizes & skee shirt! $1 off beers for all league members on league nights. Food provided at championship event = SKEEGYLE SATURDAY!
AT A GLANCE: While all of the SKEE League locations are fun, the Begyle Location is where we really let loose and get creative. There’s just so much room for activitskees! (ie. HundoBall!, The Puttskee)
Begyle is a brewery/ event space/ tap room, so you can expect a premium selection of rotating craft beers and ciders on tap each week. Outside food is allowed, and we generally get a great selection of food trucks to come by during the fall. (Fingers crossed for Carnivale!)
LEAGUE FORMAT: This skeeson, we are headed back to the “team oriented” format where teams of 3-5 rollers go head to head, round by round, splitting a rounds of 9 balls (3,3,3). Like tennis, you win X amount of games to win the set. Win X amount of sets to win the match. Full details will be released to registered rollers.
ADDED BONUS: We’ve got a brand new ranking structure for individuals, so there’s still going to be that season-long individual competitive element!
GLASCOTT’S SALOON SKEESON XV
2158 N. Halsted – Lincoln Park
LEAGUE NIGHTS: Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays (6:00, 7:00, 8:00, 9:00 and 10:00pm start times)
LEAGUE START DATE: September 26th, 27th, 28th
MACHINE TYPE: Beerball
TEAM SIZE: 3 people (Subs allowed- but individual stats included for registered rollers only.)
DURATION: 7 weeks
SCORING TYPE: Head to head. Cumulative Points.
MAX TEAMS: 20 per night
COST: $120/Individual or $360/Team (*$110 and $330 with advanced registration discounts)
WHAT’S INCLUDED?: All rounds of skeeball, trophskees, prizes & skee shirt! Mystery rounds with beer and prize giveaways! Catered championship event = SKEEAPALOOZA!
AT A GLANCE: Our flagship location, Glascott’s Saloon is still going strong 7 years and counting! It’s an Irish bar, with great beer specials, wine and a deep selection of liquors. Bartenders will typically learn your name and your drink and you’ll have no problem making fast friends. It certainly doesn’t hurt that The Athenian room offers wait service from within the bar. #FrenchFrySalad
There’s A TON of skeeball talent in this bunch, with many experienced rollers who have completed multiple skeesons. However, don’t let the competitive aspect dissuade you. This is the finest group of human beings you will ever encounter. All that’s necessary to join is a positive, friendly attitude and a love of beer and/or skeeball.

AT A GLANCE: Formally Headquarters, Replay: Lincoln Park is an awesome Arcade Bar in the heart of Lincoln Park. Free pinball, Air Hockey, skeeball and more. It’s sort of how I imagine heaven.
LEAGUE FORMAT: Replay: Lincoln Park will follow the same format as Black Iron Tavern. We’re taking babskee steps for the new locations. 🙂
