NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK

NKOTB

Halfway through the skeeson, teams and players have settled into their play. Veterans, for the most part, have played the way we thought they would. Yet, at this point, I am always interested how our rookskees are coming along with their game.

Rookskee of the Year is on the line for each league night. It is an award that goes out to the best statistical player in their first skeeson in a skeeball league. Scoring average carries a huge weight on the award, but combos and hundos also play a factor in the decision. Currently, here are the top rookskee scorers in the league from each night.

Tuesday

  1. Justin Cubillos (Skee Otters) 314.25 AVG
  2. Matt Napierski (Fort Whiskee) 306.33 AVG
  3. Noreen Karadsheh (Skeevivors) 306.00 AVG
  4. JP Tucker (Milwauskee’s Best) 302.00 AVG
  5. Melissa Lumkes (Rock, Paper, SKEEzors) 297.75 AVG

Wednesday

  1. Kris Stenglein (Beautskee and the Beasts) 345.75 AVG
  2. Kendra Kaiser (Burns Babskee Burns!) 294.50 AVG
  3. Jason Strohmayer (Three Skee-Balleros) 287.25 AVG
  4. Bryan Schaefer (Sad Skeeanu) 285.50 AVG
  5. James Simmons (The Space Station) 269.75 AVG

Thursday

  1. Jesse Bowen (Skeet Skeet Skeet) 319.75 AVG
  2. Jack Quinn (The Dream Skeem) 309.25 AVG
  3. Kyle McKinley (The Muskeeteers) 303.50 AVG
  4. Andy Schulze (The Muskeeteers) 299.75 AVG
  5. Jeremy Sinitean (The Muskeeteers) 293.50 AVG

Congrats to those who are in the hunt for Rookskee of the Year. Remember, those not mentioned still have another four weeks to turn the tables so keep trying out there!

In terms of teams, it is not easy being completely new to the league and get into the playoffs, but these teams are looking good so far!

Milwauskee’s Best (Currently 4th in Tuesday standings)

Even though Scott isn’t technically new to a skeeball league, the Tuckers (Scott, Lynn, and JP) have gotten comfortable with our bigger league and made themselves at home. Scott Tucker is second in scoring average (371.00) and fourth in hundos (59) on Tuesday. They should be a tough team to contend with the rest of the way.

Skee Otters (8th in Tuesday standings)

Their team score have stayed steady from week-to-week around 800-850. They do have one of the league’s best rookskees in Justin Cubillos, who hit scores of 342 and 355 already. Peter Pereira and Matthew Volchko have held their own as well. With a couple of teams charging late from behind, it won’t be easy for them to hang on to a playoff spot.

The Muskeeteers (3rd in Thursday standings)

Even with the experience of Milwauskee’s Best, this is probably the best all rookskee team in the league right now at 4-0. If not the best, they are definitely the most improved with the team score climbing after each week. All three team members (Kyle, Andy, Jeremy) are averaging close to 300 and have each hit around 40 hundos. It will be interesting how much better they can get as the skeeson unfolds.

Skeet Skeet Skeet (11th in Thursday standings)

They are currently on the outside looking in for the playoffs, but are just 11 points out. They have been consistent and have a couple of great rollers in Jesse Bowen and Joslyn Adasek along with Heather Taylor. With spots 3 -10 still shifting, they have a good shot of getting into the top 10 if they keep things up.

Your Momskees (12th in Thursday standings)

Another team on the outside of the playoff picture, but just 26 points out. Josh Carter, Ashley Staker, and Rob Gregory are all averaging at least 275 and have won 3 matches already. Like Skeet Skeet Skeet, they have a chance to crack the top 10 with the uncertainty of spots 3-10.

Kudos to you guys for hanging in the playoff race! It is always nice to see new compskeetition vying for tourney and playoff spots as we count down to SKEEAPALOOZA!!!

Until next week,

Jman
